THE LEGEND OF POMOMUTULA AND POMOMANDTOWA, PUGUPUGU'S LOVE FOR THE LAND OF KEIDUPA

If we pass the North Bolaang Mongondo  Regent's Office (Bolmut) towards Gorontalo, we will also pass a bridge called Keakar. There is an entrance to the left to the south, you will find a place that the people of Kaidipang (Boroko) call Ledit and Pomomutula.

In Kaidipang etymology (language), Pomomutula comes from the basic word "Hutula" which means a knot of rope, given the prefix "Po" which is a word indicating a place, and the infix "Mu" which is a verb, so becomes a word that indicates a place, namely POMOMUTULA, which means a place where ropes are tied.

This area called Pomomutula has long been a forest which has now become bush. In this place there is a certain ritual that must be carried out when passing through this place, namely tying grass (momutulo) so that we will not get lost in this place.

This is where the word Pomomutula comes from among local people.

In Pomomutula, there is a folk story about Datu Binangkal Pugupugu who was the first king of Keidupa (Kaidipang).

It is said that at one time Pugu Pugu Binangkal and his siblings named Olangowuluru/Pomontolo/Bulonggodu, saw whether behind the dense forests and high mountains and hills there might be a new livelihood or land of hope that might be better and promised a better life in the land of Kaidipang.

So one day the two of them and several other people agreed to start this very difficult journey and adventure.

was with a heavy heart and emotion that they had to leave the land of their birth and its people, Keidupa, but Binangkal vowed that if one day they found a place, all the people would be taken to the land of new hope

After saying goodbye to his relatives and people, he set off on an adventure through the dense forest, crossing a river which of course became deeper and harder to penetrate through the dense thicket.

Pugupugu, who led this adventure, began to tie knots of grass or any forest ropes and hanging roots, this was also followed by his followers.

His followers were amazed to see this, they asked what the meaning of this bond was.
Datu Binangkal Pugupugu explained the meaning of what he was doing, that this was a sign of guidance on this journey, because he saw ahead and behind, how dense the wilderness was that he was traversing.

According to Pugupugu, the knot or bond (Hutuliya) made is useful if you get lost and cannot continue this journey, this is a sign that leads you back to the starting place or Lagada.

This is the story (legend) that accompanies the naming of this place so that until now, this place is called POMOMUTULA.

The journey and adventures of Binangkal Pugupugu, his brother Olangowuluru and the accompanying people continue. Even though the obstacles in front of them were very difficult through the wilderness and now they encountered more difficult terrain, they had to start climbing the hill.

After going through obstacles they finally arrived at the top of the hill, so tired they decided to rest, but from the top of the mountain it turned out that the mainland of Kaidipang and part of Bolangitang were clearly visible, that's why the people of Kaidipang called it POMOMANTDOWA hill.

Pomomandtowa itself means monitoring or monitoring place.

And from the top of this hill, Pomomantdowa, looking down, seeing his beloved country, Kadipang, Binangkal felt such deep pity that tears flowed from his eyes and he said

I cannot leave this land while pointing down to the Kaidipang plain.
Binangkal said to his younger brother Olangowuluru, please continue your journey, he will return home to Lagada Kaidipang, the land he loves, and will live forever with the people there.
Finally, we returned home to Lagada, following the bundle of grass as a guide.

As for his younger brother, he continued his journey through the wilderness, mountains and hills and according to stories passed down from generation to generation, Olangowuluru arrived at Gorontalo (Kingdom of Limutungo) so that it was known by another name as Pomontolo, which means people who make short-cut journeys.

Apart from Pomontolo, there is another name that old people call it, namely Bulonggodu.
